S K I L L - S E T

  • Advanced:

    • Archery: From a young age, Quanah was taught how to whittle her own bows; even as technology is beginning to take centerstage in the Wild West, she prefers her arrows to the standard firearm.

    • Horseback Riding: The Comanche people were known for their adept horsemanship. She isn’t an exception, and her affinity for the creatures allows her to pull great feets due to the bond she creates with her mount.

  • Intermediate:

    • Fighting: From fists to knives to tavern chairs, the woman can handle her own decently in a brawl.

  • Beginner:

    • Shooting: She knows how to fire a rifle or pistol; doesn’t mean she likes to, though. Her marksmanship is average, at best.

  • Bow, Arrows, and Quiver: A gift from her late uncle, Quanah keeps the quiver on her back at all times and continues to create arrows to put in it.

  • Indian Dag Knife: It’s a simple knife, one kept in a sheath on her side.

  • Water Canteen/Pouch: a tan hide bag; carries precious liquid for the dry plains of NW.

  • Horse Reigns/Riding Gear

  • Shiko (Waka): A buckskin paint horse whose name literally translates to “big dog”. Shiko is her pride and joy, as she’s had the horse since her initiation ceremony when she was 16.

Born a Comanche Indian in the post-war era, life had always been fraught with fears of encroachment by the US government in Quanah’s tribal band. Following the end of the Civil War, railroad construction into the Great Plains of Texas meant the destruction of a way of life for the many indian tribes who relied on the buffalo herds and open expanses of land for their trade goods and culture. Growing up, Quanah was exposed to the resentment and grievances from the war that had left The West broken and unpoliced.

By the age of 12, Quanah had already made the conscious decision to become a warrior. It was no surprise to anyone, considering the little girl preferred to wrestle and play ball games with the boys than weave with fellow women. Tribal raids were a way of life for the Comanche; not only did they perform raids against other tribes, but under the leadership of Quanah’s uncle they began a chain of stage coach/train robberies near new boom towns benefiting from the railroad trade. As she grew into the ranks of the warriors, Quanah developed leadership skills and the way of life became hers to own. With each train car they captured, she thought she was bringing about good, necessary change and equality for her people. It went on for a couple of years like this, with her tribal bands warriors becoming outlaws feared by Texas’ urbanites.

When Quanah was about 24, a train robbery went wrong. Quanah’s uncle and most of his war party were taken into custody, (with the exception of Quanah and a few others, whom were to go back to their tribe and give the news of the arrest to the elders). It was supposed to be a negotiation for their arrest and imprisonment to bring awareness to their people’s strife and fight for their lands. Needless to say, it ended with the public hanging of all 6 of the warriors without even so much as a judge or trial. The trading railway went untouched for weeks following the incident; a small victory and price to pay for the death of a chief and his best war party. It was an injustice Quanah hasn’t forgotten.

Following the executions of her warrior mentors, Quanah packed a bag and set out on her own towards the West. For the next couple of months, she traveled through the plains of West Texas into Arizona and eventually Eastern New Wesson. Disillusioned by the role government played in the desecration of her people, she had no purpose. Just her and her horse and the blistering sun, taking refuge in the brush and ghost-towns they found along the way. It took many months and years, but she soon caught a foothold and found the right people to join forces with from town to town and found her way back into train-jacking just to survive. She never stayed longer than one or two jobs with each group she joined, however. Quanah always kept moving, always kept doing damage wherever she went along the rails.

As of right now, she’s still a drifter, but she’s found a new sense of purpose. Taking what little she has left and the reputation she’s gained, she hopes to make herself worthy of her people’s legacy once more and has decided to join organized crime for good in a quest for revenge. She still holds contempt for the government (or lack there of) in the West; this time, she wants to do more damage, maybe even foster a family-band of outlaws she can trust along the way.

- TBA

O T H E R

- She has a love for reptiles; Iguanas are her favorite.
- For an Outlaw, she's pretty broke. Quanah has enough money for an expenditure every now and then (a beer at a tavern, a piece of candy from a confectionary shop, etc) but for the most part she hasn't got the cash to replace old equipment (such as her worn out reigns) or buy a revolver.
- She has a deep, gruff voice.
- Her favorite food is corn. If she passes by a corn field that looks like it can afford to spare some, she'll take some ears for the road.
